Also MSIE7 still has some other problems in it.
What she is experiencing sounds more like a settings problem (either in MSIE6, in her security software (antivirus, firewall, etc), or in some other area which can control internet access (eg: hosts file, connection settings, etc)).
I very much doubt this is a bug in MSIE6.
Though she should also make sure she has all the latest security fixes and updates for MSIE6 (and for the rest of her OS):
