If you limit the use of the word wheel to tie Plus! to strings starting with "/" you will loose that functionality. Although, it must be said, who wants to search for a contact who has "/" in their name (Smilie). Nevertheless, such things should be thought about (which Patchou surely will if he likes the idea and wants to implement it)...
You could make it like the convo window where you have to type // to get /. So if you want to search for a contact with a '/' in it you have to type //.
