I remember there was something which shawnz posted a while ago and if you put it in your Personal Message then you will never be able to log into Messenger again. Can't find the thread though.

I believe the solution was deleting the Messenger application data. Whilst this may not be the exact same problem it may be worth trying
NOTE: All your display pictures, custom emoticons, conversation backgrounds, winks, etc. will be deleted

1. Uninstall Messenger (through Control Panel > Add/Remove)
2. Open any folder and in the address bar put %appdata%\Microsoft then press Enter/Return.
3. Delete the 'MSN Messenger' folder at that location
4. Re-install Messenger
