OpenVPN only requires one open port for the tunnel and can be configured to use any, so it will work in almost any situation. The only limitations are that you must have an always on computer with an unrestricted connection to host the server, and some networking skills to set it up.
Awesomeness. Again with the torrents though, it's pretty pointless if you want to take advantage of your schools bandwidth, it will actually use yours up twice as fast, if you get charged for uploads. was put impeccably into words at DebianDay for me last Saturday, by Knut Yrvin of Trolltech - adults try something once, fail, and then are like "ffs this doesn't work". Children try, fail, and then try again, and succeed - maybe on the second, or even fifth retry. But the thing is that they keep at it and overcome the problems in the end.
