Greetings all.

The title of my first ever post on here says it all.

I'm having a nightmare logging in to Live Messenger 8.1.

It was working fine - I logged out - no changes were made to my computer (at least not by a human(!)) - now I get the 80072745 error.

I have tried numerous fixes including deleting the "shared" registry key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live\Communications Clients\Shared

Turning off Windows Firewall, Virus Scanner and Spyware Scanner.

I can log in OK from webmessenger.msn.com/

I can't log in using another valid ID.

I have successfully ran about half a dozen commands from Start > Run (I forget them now but can post if required)

I even uninstalled 8.1, installed 7.5 and still the same 80072745 error.

Has anyone else had the same problem and fixed it? I did have a couple of Trojans which I have since removed and wonder if they have anything to do with it.

Any takers . . . ?
