About the ring: it's highly unlikely, as RTD or someone said (jokingly) it was the hand of the Rani, and that particular scene was put in just in case any future producers could bring back the Master (and/or the Rani, I think)
About the dying/regenerating thing: Tennant is actually going to be in the three Bank Holiday specials (me being Aussie, I have no clue what the Bank Holidays are
) which come after Series 4.
