scripts like that are unreliable but there is a script called
Live Notifier which uses Xniff.

What you refer to are plugins which sniffed your network connection for specific server messages. But even back then (with MSN Messenger 7.5) those messages were already highly inaccurate and it already didn't worked anymore...
All this is already explain an unbelievable amount of times on the forums. Always search forums first before asking a question...
