I can't see how your friend can remotely change your font, the only way I could see him doing this is if he sent you a font that has over-written your current font.

If I were you I'd just try changing fonts or check out your regional settings to see if there are some issues there. Go to Control Panel > Region and Language Options > Advanced, and check that these settings are on the right country.
