I hope your method works I will try from the Repair Console which I can get from the DELL CD. I'm a tad worried because I cannot find a Dell Resources disc for this machine and all the drivers are on the Hard Drive "somewhere".
lesson learned: don't do that.
who knows what damage you could have done, just reformat/repair with dell CD
