Well, the download page for the VB6 package doesn't say Windows 7 anywhere (or Vista for that matter)...
Doesn't mean it is not supported. Those download pages from MS only show you the basic supported OS as it was when the file was put online for download. It almost never says anything about extended support, extra KB articles, updates, etc, etc. Such download pages are also seldom updated.

and if it's shipped with 7 as your link says, shouldn't it be just working?
it says it is supported, it doesn't say it is shipped with it though.

And upon running MsgPlusLibFix, this error comes up, regardless of whether I elevate it:
Normally you don't need to run MsgPlusLibFix with an elevated account. However you do need to put the OCX in the correct path (not the virtualized path which Vista or 7 uses) and registered from an admin account or elevated command prompt.

Excellent.

But "the normal way"? What way is that exactly?
Note: the method used by MsgPlus!LibFix is exactly the same method Plus! uses when it deals with sound files, and the only way to do it properly (but in an automated fasion).

And what do you mean with "no real loss of quality"? There shouldn't be any quality loss at all since you're dealing with raw data. You should not manipulate the sounds themselfs. The files aren't even touched. It should be a matter of rather simple register manipulation, nothing more.

If you meant you imported them back with Messenger Plus! as MP3 sounds then you will loose quality as you will effectivly make a new MP3s out of existing MP3s. Not a good idea...
