Desktop contacts can already do most of what you're suggesting.

There is also a built in tabbed chatting feature to WLM 2010 that it's not 100% clear how it will work thus far

Also, for future reference, suggestions should go in MsgPlus! General Talk rather than MsgPlus! Help & Support
