RE: Ipod
TylerG, it would be awesome if you could provide me with one piece of information regarding your iPod. The "special" U2 edition, does it come with a cd besides the installer cd? If it doesn't then just hope to god you don't have to run a restore on your iPod or you can say buhbye to the 400 U2 songs on your iPod.
All iPods come with the AC Adapter, Firewire cable, USB cable, Manual, Installer CD, Warranty Guide. But as I asked eariler did you get anything else in the box of your iPod?
If you ever have to format your iPod this is what I am going to suggest. Before doing so backup your music.
Follow the following steps:
1) Connect iPod to your AC Adapter
2) Press and Hold the Menu and Select buttons until you see an Apple Logo. The pressure you put on the buttons should be very light as the buttons are sensitive.
3) At the Apple Logo, press and hold Play/Pause and Select. If done correctly your iPod will say Disk Mode at the top and say OK to Disconnect with a big checkmark. If you see this then disconnect the iPod from your AC Adapter and connect to the PC. If not try again. (The other way to get into Disk Mode is to press and hold Menu and Select, at the Apple Logo press Previous and Select (this should cause the Apple logo to Flip), at the next screen hit the Play/Pause button. Use the next button to scroll through the menu to look for Diskmode. Press select to access it.
4) Once in Disk Mode open My Computer then click the Tools Menu > Folder Options > View Tab > put a Dot beside Show Hidden Files and Folders, click Ok
5) Double Click your iPod in My Computer
6) Double Click iPod Control
7) You should have a folder names Music. This contains all the music. If needed you would want to back that up so you can sync your music back to your iPod after a restore.
