RE: The Best Anti-Virus Software?
hey mate ;)
well i use NAV2004 and i also live in Australia.
I've been using Norton products for a long time tho, not sure which one is the best except norton isn't that bad :) a bit of a memory hog tho... :S. Anyways whats the context of your problem? is NAV not doing something correctly etC?

EDIT: the best is always going to be different according to different users - its their own opinon :) so its hard to definitly say which one is the best

I've been using Norton from the beginning. I like it and I've never tried anything else :P.

But you might wanna check this site: http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/.

It says BitDefender is the best....... a friend of mine has been using BitDefender and he says the only negative point is that you have to reboot after every update.

Well... i'll stick to Norton

I'm using the "pack" Norton Internet Security 2005 with Norton Antivirus 2005 and Norton AntiSpam 2005 and well, it works well..

The only bad part is that he needs a lot of "helper" applications, which eat a LOT of memory, and makes the boot-up a low slower.. But hey! You're protected ;)

I don't see the advantage of other antiviruses over NAV 2005... other that Norton takes a loooong tome to load...

This post may intrest you, it's a professional test on 25 antivirus programs. NOD32 comes out as winner and has always been good :). I'm using it for about 2 years now, i've used McAfee and Norton before.

I love NOD, ultra fast, takes minimal system recources and scans every virus :).

Well, that's exactly why i dumped Norton, they are good, but it's becoming slower and slower. An anti-virus program shouldn't slow down your pc :s.

BitDefender is also one of the slowest virusscanners around, see the test results in this post.

RE: The Best Anti-Virus Software?
Well there is a few I can recomend.

1) Eset NOD32 http://www.nod32.com (microsoft recomended) this one is not a big memory hog.

2) NAV Corportae addition 9

3) AVG Antivirus which is free. with free remember you get what you pay for but it's free so why not.

There you go hope that helps

Symantec AntiVirus is the best IMO. Same People that make Norton, just without all the extra crap and simple GUI. Currently auto protect is on and currently scanning my comp while only using 16MB of ram.

Only "downside" I've found is that it's meant for businesses only, so you can't get it through their website if you mark yourself as "Home or Home Office" but otherwise it's a great.
