i cannot see my volume icon in the taskbar even though it is set to 'show icon in taskbar' from the volume controls in the control panel. and when you right click goto properties and click customize it is set to always show the volume icon but it doesnt....how can i get it back? what is wrong with it?

When you have done it have you extended the bar by double clicking on the two arrows at the start of the bar (I'm guessing you use XP)

Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio devices properties

Make sure that the tick box is on "place volume icon in the task bar"

its not there either....plus it should be in the other part as its set to 'always show'

Ahh i thought he meant he'd checked this..




My default was "hide when inactive"

thats where its set to always show....but it doesnt...

try setting it so it doesn't show, restart your computer, then set it to show and restart again

i have a mute button on the key board so if i want to see it i mute and unmute and it shows

so do i but i cant mute and unmute my microphone through it
