O.P. Santa Claus Worm, spreads via MSN Messenger
quote: Scrooge got control of the Instant Messagers and is reeking computer havoc at Christmas time, using the alias of Santa Claus. The worm, known, as the “Santa Claus Worm” has been spotted recently popping around the instant massagers of AOL, Yahoo and MSN Messenger, by receiving a file known as a Santa file which any idiot would download this time of year.
The worm, IM.GiftCom.All, sends numerous links to a person, often named gift.com, which leads to a “Santa Claus file”. In addition, when the file is downloaded onto your computer, a festival image appears on your screen while a rootkit is installed on the users system. This then scans your registry, file system and internet cache, and in some cases is a keylogger.
These rootkit are currently undetected by most security software and can cause serious harm to your computer, then the worm spreads in the same manner to all your contacts, not the best gift you can give, eh?
So be aware of this festive treat, and do not click or download any file you receive, always ask what it is before hand.
Happy Holidays!
We have not really had any big worms for a while, so this one is rather serious, I thought i would spread the warning

on WLM.
Hmmm, just thinking... since WLM is new, would the worm be able to send messages through it? Would it know how to start a conversation and send its links?
