O.P. No Sound - Pop Account Notifications
Hi All,

With Windows Live Messenger 8.1 installed, I heard the sounds during the displaying of the Pop Account checking.

With Windows Live Messenger 8.5-Beta installed, along with the latest version of Messenger Plus! Live (4.23.0.276 - Released 06/05/2007), complete silence.

Under General Sounds Options, I do have Allow build-in Sounds to be played, checked. But no Sounds are played.

Hi Chris,

No!

Within C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! Live, I have the following:
C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! Live\Interface
C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! Live\Languages
C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! Live\Scripts

Nothing else. No other Add-ins downloaded or installed, except for Messenger Plus! Live.

Extract this to C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! Live\Script_Sounds

So the 2 sounds are in that folder.

Edit: ^^ Ignore

This sound is not part of the Messenger Plus! installation and "Script_Sounds" is not a directory either, where did you get that from?

I'll check the problem out, this may be an incompatibility with Messenger 8.5 that will ahve to be fixed in the next release :).

Edit: I just checked and it seems to work properly here. Anybody else can confirm? (if it works or not)

Works fine here.
Do you have the "New Mail" sound enabled in Tools --> Options --> Alerts and Sounds ?

*shrug* You tell me? :P

I saw that newemail.wma was in that folder so I presumed he was missing it.

Works fine here too.

I read on some other forums that Windows Live Messenger 8.5 BETA has sound problems. Some people reported that they can't hear any Messenger sound on 8.5.

When you uninstall Messenger Plus! Live, does the problem still remain?

Hi ahmetgns,

Not certain exactly what you mean. The only sound missing is the alert that I heard when Messenger Plus! Live had checked for mail on the Mail Server of the Accounts.

However, I did just check, and in Messenger, New Mail was not checked.

Does Messenger Plus! Live use Sounds from Windows Live Messenger? Didn't have it checked, because I download E-mails on another computer, but check on this computer.

RE: No Sound - Pop Account Notifications
Sorry, my bad. When you said Pop, I understood it as pop-up. Whereas you meant pop3 accounts.

I'm using windows Live Messenger 8.1 and I unchecked new email alertsound from the WLM's options and Messenger Plus! didn't play that sound when she was notifying me for a new mail on one of my pop3 accounts. So it seems, Messenger Plus! depends on Windows Live Messenger for mail notification alert sounds.
