When I get this error.  Does it mean that there is a problem on my machine or on there end?

Ok then how do I resolve this?

Go To: %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\

and delete all entries except localhost 127.0.0.1 and see if that fixes it up, make sure you copy any other entries first just in case, you could also simply just do the repair, and if that doesnt work use what i said

The key button is 'Repair'...

In that folder I have.  Do I just delete all the entries in that folder?

Yes. Host files are files that disallow a certain website to gain access or load on your pc. So one of those files is getting blocked and messenger needs that file to sign-in.

Just edit the "hosts" file... leave the other stuff in the folder alone.

Kinda nervous playing around with that.  Is there a program that will do this automatically?

Simply press the REPAIR button in the Connection Troubleshooter Wizard...
