RE: Password Protection for Folders?
I was just about to start a thread with the exact question.  Maybe not exact, but I would REALLY like to know what program it is you use for this, or at least if I could get a copy of the source for the encryption portion of Plus!

why do you want to encrypt files/folders ? there is no real need to do so and  it can lead to big problems !
eg
-you forget your password and you can't access that file/folder again !!!
-if you encrpted all your computer folders, this will make it so that program mite not work. (as i found out the hard way)

I think Patchou created the encryption system himself; no third-party program is used.

Actually, I'm just using the encryption API of Windows, its very simple to do, just harder to manage :).

RE: Password Protection for Folders?
I have some encryption software.  But the problem I face is that I don't want to have to re-encrypt it every time i close the file.  like an easy access to it and then be able to let it encrypt after I close the file.  Would someone know how.

And as to why I would want to.  Same reason that you would want to encrypt a chat log.  Don't wnat anyone but me seeing the file.  Just to make sure nothing gets complicated the fiels I'm talking about are still just .txt files.  It's mostly the only files I work with nowadays.  You can do anything with notepad.

Thanks for all the help.  And hopefully I can get this stuff working ASAP.  I think one of my friends is planning to raid my computer.

encryption is very useless except for very rare occasions (like chat logging;)) but with chat logging its so your younger brother or your dad doesn't see your chat conversations. i dont see why you would need encryption really if you already have it built in windows xp (Pro)

The reason I need it is because I'm leaving to go some where for a month and I just dont want my parents starting to get snoopy and looking around.  They'd start deleting files of mine that they dont know what they are.  Their anal about stuff like that.
