my dad used to use his laptop for free broadband off one of our neighbours before we got broadband! and yes its secure he know a good bit abbout shizzle related to technology so we're k.

Hmm... I should get an accesspoint, home alone for a week soon, a little more flexibility would be nice then .
I gave away my last accesspoint, because most of the time i dont use my laptop at home... but when i actually have to make my own food downstairs...

Have any of you ever set up a wireless network? It's the most annoying thing you can do. The instructions are ridiculously unclear, and I've used three different routers .
No wonder my neighbours don't put passwords on, they are just happy they got it working.

well that really does depend on the router some off them are really easy... and some off them don't make any sense at all...

Maybe it's you being a newbie .... took less than a min with my belkin or with this stolen 2wire....

Don't read instructions then . I've set up my Linksys when i still had it, setting up WPA + MAC Filtering + Disabling SSID was pretty easy without instructions.
I did have problems on 1 or 2 APs from other people that were from some unkown cheap brand and have crappy web interface.
