That's exactly what I'm replying on..... I'll make myself a bit more clear: "away" on this forum means: you're even less likely to come on the forums then being "offline". And if you see the colors red, green, grey... in what order would you put them (think of a traffic light)? green/grey/red... no? So that would be online/offline/away...

Like I said, this is not MSN In MSN "away" means that you're "online" but aren't at your pc for the moment.... oh... and on msn there is no colordifference between statusses, only the icon changes

I definately like the idea of changing it to text rather than an image, but I can't really suggest which colours would be best as I so far like all the suggestions posted so far.

Green / Red (or maroon ) / Grey would probably be the nicest option.

Put the text, not the icon.
About colors, I'd say:
Status: Online
Status: Offline
Status: Away

doh... Exactly my point, so it means you're MORE away/gone/busy then being OFFLINE... hence the order: online/offline/away and not online/away/offline and thus the colorchoice...

btw: ACTIVE: all tree states mean your active, because you've registered...
