Have any of you ever set up a wireless network? It's the most annoying thing you can do. The instructions are ridiculously unclear, and I've used three different routers .
No wonder my neighbours don't put passwords on, they are just happy they got it working.
:/
It took me like 5 mins to get mine working out of the box, and this was like 3 years ago. quote: Originally posted by absorbation
What's your router, I know BT don't seem to get on with it (Smilie). WPA is lower down the choice list and it's easier to use as well. There is no need to create a key, you just have to remember your password (Smilie).
I know. It just likes to restart all the time with WPA for some reason, should be getting a new one soon anyway
EDIT: The router is a Belkin F5D7633-4 =p

unhaxable
same .
Same as above, but WPA-PSK (WPA+WPA2 mode). It was a real bugger trying to get the 64 character key onto my PSP .
Also, the internal settings page is only available over wired lan, not wireless. Just in case someone managed to spoof my MAC address, find my WPA2 key and know the name of my SSID... Well okay, so they could just nick my PSP .

RE: Is your wireless network secure?
WEP keys do come in handy where I live cause loads of people have wireless and some people a few weeks ago (By mistake) connected to my network and it really made things slow and horrible, so it helps to have a WEP key.

I dont need a password because there's no need, we have enough land so people cant access it without coming quite far into out land
They can use a simple antenna....

People can still connect to your network with a WEP key. The encryption key has been discovered .

RE: Is your wireless network secure?
wireless networks are simple to set up
192.168.1.1
wireless>enable wireless,
options>enable encryption
enter passwords or keys and done
my brother's laptop requires you to put the passkey in using hexvalues lucky i only needed to put it in once
