O.P. fail to download from offical link
hi all
i've been retrying for 2 days already since i reinstall my XP sp3,
and i kept on having the same prob that either the setup cannot run
(said the install file is not a correct dos-32 exe, checked common-prob
guide but aren't work)  or whenever i download from the link in the
offical DL page, it always being terminate @99% with a error messenge that
says the connection to server is being crash terminated (something
like that).

i kinda need help asap as i already had enough with it, the common-prob
helping guide just doesn't work for my case at all. any help would
be much appricated

In Internet Explorer (if this is what you are using) click Tools > Options > And clear Temporary Internet Files and then attempt to download it again.

If this doesn't work then try:

http://rnd.menthix.net/mpl_mirror/MsgPlusLive-485.exe

What anti-virus or malware/spyware protection are you running?

that is NOD-32 anti-virus, kinda don't know why, 1 year ago

it didn't identify plus! live installer exe as a troj ,but this time it keep block it and identify it as a troj, forcing me to close down
the NOD-32 first and attempt download.

and what happen are after many try of download the exe,
2 outcomes turned out that:
1. it runs, but a ms-dos windows pop up a sec -> terminated.
2. error messenge "the exe is not a correct win32 exe" something

and last but not least, even i turned off the anti-virus,
when i download from the offical download pages,
what i got mostly is as i mention before, the download always being crash-terminated
(idk what is it like in english,CHI xp sorry lol")
by the server whenever it reachs 99%.
i kinda want to say i'm somewhat close to pass out after all this mess that i didn't expected at all.

Hi Arthur.S,

The problem you're having is due to NOD32 blocking Messenger Plus! Live for unknown reasons.

See Menthix's reply to Nod32 Blocking Update URL.

Menthix and others worked hard to remove any problems the anti-virus companies were detecting and ended up with good results, however at present NOD32 is the only one that continues to detect Plus! as a problem. Once they're made aware that the problems have been removed, they should change it.

But until then, my recommendation would be to remove NOD32 and use a different anti-virus such as Microsoft Security Essentials.

People are still trying to work on that BTW, but as long as Eset is extremely vague as to why they are flagging Plus! as an potentially unwanted application Yuna doesn't know what to do about it either.

Not necessary. Temporary disabling NOD32 will do, although it does take a couple more steps than Eset says it will.
  • Doubleclick on the NOD32 icon [Image: nod32-systray-icon.png] in the systray next to the clock in the lower-right of your screen. On Windows 7 in some cases the NOD32 icon is hidden behind the little up arrow next to the clock.
  • In the lower-left of the NOD32 windows click 'Change' to toggle to 'Advanced mode'.
  • Once you're in advanced mode, click on 'Setup' and then 'Antivirus and antispyware protection'.
  • You should see the status of all 4 of NOD32's components, click on 'Disable' under all 4 of these components.
  • Now you should be able to download Plus! and install it without any problem.
  • Once you are done you can delete the installer file and re-enable NOD32. Only the installer is flagged by NOD32, Plus! works fine once it is installed, even with NOD32 on its highest settings.

Finish the problem
