What do you mean? Windows Live Messenger is a "Live" update (hence the "live" in it's name
)
But if you mean when will there be a Messenger Plus! Live version fully compatible with WLM 2011, then the answer is somewhere in December (if all things go well). See '
Plus 4.9 on WLM 2011. Which features work and which ones don't' or the official latest
news on www.msgpluslive.net.

Indeed.
It doesn't matter what OS you use in this case; you were running on old (insecure) build of WLM 2009.
The only thing, in regards to what OS you use, is that if you use Windows 7, then the update will suggest WLM 2011 instead of WLM 2009 (which is quite a logical suggestion in that case). If you're running XP, you wont get suggested to update to WLM 2011 as that is only compatible with Windows 7.
So, yeah.... update to
latest WLM 2009 build (if you prefer WLM 2009) and all will be well. Although it might be that from time to time you'll get that suggestion again to update to WLM 2011 though...
