O.P. Trying disguise 2009 version as 2011 - Plus! doesn't work..
Hello.
I'm trying make wlm 2009 to shutup about new update by changing it's version in msnmsgr.exe with resource hacker. It seems to do the trick, however now MPL! doesn't want to start at all...
Any suggestions on this matter?
Thank you.
P.S.
upgrading to 2011 is out of questions.

By updating to WLM2009 14.0.8117.416 and revert the resource hacking?

I probably wasn't clear in my question, I'm trying find a way make MPL! work together with that "faked" 2011, like hard code somehow MPL! itself so it would see WLM as 2009 or something in that nature.
Or maybe there is another way shut the hell up 2009 about updates?
Reverting back to unmodified 2009 is not a problem, I have backups.

Yeah, by updating to WLM2009 14.0.8117.416? I believe you had 14.0.8089.726 before the update, so you were told to update.

Oh, I see what you were saying. Nope, I already have that version.
Maybe if I change compatibility to XP SP3 it would help? have anyone tried that?

That version doesn't ask you to update, I just installed it myself.
As Mnjul suggested, undo the reshacking and then allow it to do the update, it doesn't install WLM 2011, just an updated version of 2009.....Messenger Plus! Live works fine with it too

Then perhaps the updates being showed based on the region or something, just like windows updates...because on two computers with the same latest WLM version it was showing update notification. And this computer has 5 days old OS, which means WLM was downloaded 5 days ago from MS site.

The updates via WLM are a new update released today....just download and install the update like it says, it is not going to install WLM 2011.
