O.P. Emoticons disabled
So all of my emoticons are disabled in MSN. I check out the settings, and click the boxes to re-enable emoticons and custom emoticons. I figured this would resolve things as it normally does.

It didn't.

I closed the process. Re-opened it and tried again. It would not save my settings and the emoticons were still disabled.

I thought I'd upgrade to the latest version of WLM and see if that would fix the problem.

It did not.

Anyone ever have a problem like this and know how to resolve it?

If it matters, I'm running Win7.

For a little update, if I log onto another profile, it works perfectly. My desktop, once again, is fine. Just my laptop is a pain...

uninstalled, deleted folder, reinstalled. i still cannot enable emoticons on my primary account.

Ok, that helps determine that it's a specific profile problem.

Exit Messenger, then try step 3B from this guide to delete the Windows Live Contacts folder. It might be worth restarting your computer after too. Then give Messenger a try.
