I'm obviously a REAL dumb blonde, but what exactly is going on . Could someone explain it to me.

No One "HAcked" the servers. Its called a Distributed Denial of Service Attack. Basically, hundreds of computers try to access the site at the same time, in hopes to overload the server. Well. It worked. mess.be is back up, and neowin, msgplus etc...but a few are still down. msnfanatic is down and itselefants is down. All of them were nailed off the net by the same person. not too much info is known, but i do believe there are a few names and places that are being looked into.

The one thing I don't understand: What's the point in DDoSing random sites?

It appears it wasnt random, the people who did it had a reason, they have something about the msn community. I dont know what. But it wasnt random. It hurt my comp alot ..They came into the chat and sent me about 250 PMs and it froze up my comp ...they did it about 4 times

I had to let my anger out somewhere but I'll keep some so when the person(s) are found, I can't vent some on them too

It's surely a well planned attack, and I doubt if they will soon be found . . . I even doubt they will be found at all. They probably are with plenty and I'm verry sure they're using zombies so it will be a hard job finding them. Let's just hope they don't do it again. Perhaps someone would have to try to find out if there are communities on the web that are against msn related sites (perhaps ICQ, Yahoo! messenger or AOL-messenger communities) and that would backup such an attack. Undoubtfully there will be left traces of the planning of the attack left on the internet, now we should try to find them (undoubtfully to find them ever, but was just a thought).
