Do you have a popup blocker enabled? That would probably stop javascript from opening a new window. I dunno what do to about that...

You mean the expand/collapse? They're not javascript...
They seem to work well for me, and they might be useful for members who aren't interested in certain categories.

The gray is better, IMO, and it's actually this theme's default background color. You can see it on the edges of the window. It's automatically added by the theme parser thingy.
