I installed Messenger Plus 3 this morning and for some reason the sounds aren't working under "Play an emotion sound"

I installed Messenger Plus 3 over Plus 2 figuring that I didn't need to uninstall it.  I do believe that is ok to do.  Well after that I uninstalled Messenger Plus 3 and Messenger 6.2 and rebooted.

Then I reinstalled Messenger 6.2 and Messenger Plus 3 and still no sound. When I send the sound to other people they can hear the sound fine or if the person sends me a sound it plays on their machine but not mine.

Any suggestions?

And by the way Patchou, you have done some great work.  Keep up the great work.

In the preferences panel, under "Instant Messages"  and under the sub heading "Commands and Tags" check to see if "Allow Sound Commands" is ticked. If it is, un-tick it and restart messenger and tick it again.

Still no go. 

Try changing this setting to the other one:
Plus > Preferences > Sound Config > "Play sounds using the default MPEGx codec"

No go on switching between MPEG1 and 2
