O.P. Stopping "busy" status
When I go to install or play a program, my status goes to "busy" (as most people's do)

Firstly, is this plus or Messenger, secondly, can I disable it

Yes you can.
It is Messenger who sets you busy when you run a fullscreen programm (ie games, movies and old-fashioned setups).
Tools > Options > Uncheck the option.
