Tracert not working

O.P. Huh?  Tracert not working
For a while now tracert in command prompt hasn't been working for me...it worked fine before a few weeks ago but it just stopped working for some reason...whenever I try I can't...I attached a SS of the problem...

Works fine here on XPSP1. Did you install any other major update of windows?

Did you try going to Start -> Run and then typing tracert ? :rolleyes:

Works fine for me too and I've got everything updated. So it's not one of the updates that's causing the problem. Have you installed something new before the problem began?

if it's an exe/com, it could have been infected. do a search through your files ;)

I know for a fact that my computer is Virus free...I just ran a check...

Did you verify that C:\WINDOWS\system32\tracert.exe exists? If so, what happens if you do this:

C:\> cd windows\system32
C:\WINDOWS\system32> tracert

? :p

C:\WINDOWS\system32\tracert.exe does exist...
When I do what you suggested this happens;

Edit: Also the ping command doesn't work...

Well, that's good, right? Just type a hostname/IP after it and it should work. :p

I suppose you don't want to switch the directory every time though... try opening a command prompt, typing "path" and hitting Enter. Is "C:\WINDOWS\system32" listed there?
