O.P. Undecided  IM's won't start
Hey,

When I try to start an instant message conversation with someone or when someone tries to start one with me, I get a messagebox saying "We were unable to start a conversation with {name}. You may want to try again."
When I emailed microsoft about this they told me some stupid standard stuff and when I said I'd already done that they told me to get rid of any add-ons like Plus!
I am not planning to do this so I have been using Windows Messenger since (that somehow still works...)
Is this a Plus! problem, 'cause I don't think it is and in either case how can I get rid of it cuz microsoft ain't helping me. So much for customer care...

There's no way to be sure...but I'd advise that you uninstalled Plus! and didn't save your preferences then see if the problems still there...and then reinstall Plus! after

I have un- and reinstalled everything! I even lost all my custom emo's in the process :'(
I forgot to mention this problem started a day after I had installed 6.2, but I reinstalled 6.1 later on and it won't work with anything except WM which I hate...

Firstly, disable all plug-ins in the Plus! 3 Preferences dialog, in the Plugins section.

If that doesn't work, look for the file MSNHandwriting.dll in the folder Plugins in the folder where you installed Plus!, most likely C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\Plugins and delete it after closing all Messenger related programs.

Has anyone actually ever found a cure to this little problem? It seems to me that it should be an easy fix, Even so its done passed over my head, and what about them that created this ? Do they have an answer?  If anyone has an answer please let everyone else in on it. Thanks

If you get the "We were unable to start a conversation with {name}. You may want to try again." message box, please follow the instructions I gave earlier in this thread :)

Dude,I had the same problem not that long ago and found that the way to fix it was to install the ink redistributables or uninstall the handwriting plug-in completelyhopefully this works for you.Peace
