Whenever i try to open my Log Files by either clicking "Open log file..." or "open the contacts chat log..." i get the error message "Error, couldn't display the requested Log File!" Does anyone know why this is.

Im using messenger version 6.2.0137 and Plus version 3.1.94

P.S. I know this has been posted before but i read the other thread about this and it didn't really help.

do u have logging turned on ?

plus > preferences > logging >

is "automatically log all my chats bu defaults" ticked ?

Yep it's ticked, i've tried messing around with the Archiving and Logging settings but it still aint working.

can you open the log if u go to the folder and click on it

C:\Documents and Settings\(user name)\My Documents\My Chat Logs

That's the method if he uses Windows XP or 2000...and that he chose to log chats to that directory...go to Main Messenger Window > Plus! > Preferences > Logging and look for the Logs Directory field...go to that directory that is listed and make sure that all your chat logs are there.

Yea all the directories seem to be fine and when i go to my chat log folder i can click my chat logs.  But i still don't understand why it still can't open them.

are the files set to open with notepad ?  right click on one of the logs and click properties.  it should say  "opens with : Notepad"  if it doesn't click on change and select notepad and click ok

I can open the Log Files when i go into my Log Folder, just not when i choose to open a Log File from the menu. I'll just try uninstalling and reinstalling Plus and see if that works.

that u meant u couldn't open them at all even from the folder.

Is the executable notepad.exe in one of the directories that is in your "path" environment variable? (If this sounds like Chinees, then don't worry)

You can test this by going to Start > Run, and there type notepad (so, without any directory in front of it). If it starts up, then that's ok and the problem is something else,..... if it doesn't then that's most likely the problem....
