OK, my mate has a problem on his computer whenever he tries to install msn 6.x he gets an error sayin something about oleaut32.dll.
i really want this fixed because hes stuck with prehistoric messenger and i cant do any custom emoticons or show him my display pics.
any ideas or fixes?

Are you using a patched version of MSN Messenger (one with polygamy patch, games patch, etc...)?
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling MSN Messenger 6.2?
Do you have any plugins installed for Messenger Plus!?

i dont think he is, but he said it pops up now and again too, like when hes on IE

Then the problem is with your mate's VB runtime files, tell him to download and install this;

the problem should now be gone...if not say and I'll think of something else...

i had a feeling it mite b vb runtimes cos he had vb installed b4, hes gettin the fix now

ok, here it is, i gave him the link to msn messenger it installed but now it ses

the ordinal 176 could not be located in the dynamic link library OLEAUT32.dll.  wen he tries to open it

The link I gave you wasn't for MSN Messenger, it was for Visual Basic Runtime files...make sure to tell him the link exactly as below, and it isn't MSN Messenger

ok, i gave him the link to that first time, wot i ment is i gave him the link to a skinned messenger to see if that works after the vb runtimes installed, but they still dont work

Whoa Whoa Whoa...let's not focus on skins right now...Tell him to get rid of the skin, uninstall and reinstall MSN Messenger ON ITS OWN NO SKIN and then see if it works...

Download the DLL and replace the old one with it.
