Hello,

I don't know if this has been mentioned earlier (I DID search but could not find a thread) but when I start chatting/typing to a friend when I am "Appear off-line" messenger hangs.

This is what I do:
1. set status to "Appear off-line"
2. Double click a friend
3. The conversation window opens (you get a yellow warning message that you cannot type anything because you appear off-line)
4. If I now start typing Messenger hangs.... (I see the cursor flickering a LOT.... and I have to end the process via CAD...)

Is this a known bug, or am I alone...

Edit: My messenger specs are:
Messenger 6.2
Msg plus! 3.01.94

Never heared of it....

What are the plugins and other addons that you're running and what are the versions of them? (don't forget to list also all the addons like SMileyCentral, InfoPen, etc...)

quick solution: Try to disable all plugins (disable Plus! > Preferences > Plugins > allow plus to load plugins in my account and sign out and back in)... and see if it occurs again...

Note that I changed the title and the startpost because in my first draft of this post I described the problem wrong.... Excuse me for that...

But I did what you asked and it did not help... (disabling plug ins...)

erm, you change "away" to "appear offline" in your post...
While being "appear offline" you can not chat to anybody! The area where you type your text shouldn't be clickable/selectable at all!

not that theres any reason to do that anyway...
but yeah i tried it and it hangs when you type into the area where messages are recieved if you are appearing offline...
simple solution: dont do it

Edit: and if you do it by accident, you dont have to exit via C-A-D you can just right click on the messenger icon in the notification area/system tray and it stops messenger hanging

Indeed, I tried it also, confirmed... but you don't have to exist MSN Messenger at all:

When it happens (you typed something in that part of the window):
1) right click the messenger icon in your system tray (like robjha said)

Now depending on what happens:
2) choose exit (if you can, because sometimes just right clicking the icon is already enough and will bring you back to Messenger)
3) If things go well, a messagebox will appear stating that every conversation will be closed when you continue. Now click Cancel....


Furthermore: this is not a Messenger Plus! bug, this is a pure MSN Messenger bug.... (so I'll request to move this thread)

I admit: I am just a stupid user who tries to start a chat in the Appear-Offline status....

I take your advice: I will just not do it...

how can you tell this is not a msg Plus! error but only a MSN messenger error...

Because I tested this without Messenger Plus! being loaded...
