i still don't see how it will be usful, it will just create upto 150 folders (one for each contact) and then would creat subfolders for each month !

so i see not point in it !!  it was just creat lots of folders which would be a waste of space, and would be hard to navigate round. and find a certain chat log

You can do this by choosing 'create a different directory for each file' feature under archiving.

And Toddy it makes it a lot easier to find things because instead of one big file for each contact you have it broken down monthly.  its not a lot of extra folders, its your main logs folder and a folder for each contact you talk to and inside those are text files for each month.  a lot nicer as far as organization goes, and speeds up the process if you are looking for something on a specific day from a month or two back.

     |- August 2004.txt
   |- user2@hotmail.com
     |- June 2004.txt

under that format it is a lot easier to find things and the individual files are smaller and less hectic to search through than the alternative....

i'm talking about creating a different folder for each user that sings on ur pc.

for example:
u have a sister that uses ur pc.
and the log folder is c:\logs\ and assume u had a convo with one of her friends that she shouldnt know about.
the ideia is to automatically create a c:\logs\you@domain.com\ and c:\logs\yoursis@domain.com\ so that your convs with ur sis's friend dont be saved in the same file of ur sis's convs.
wouldnt be very nice if she opened her (shared) log seaching for a link or something and found your conv.

well as i have already explained plus can already do this

all you need to do is log into you email address, and change the log directory to c:/logs/youraddy@hotmail.com

then get your sister to log into her email address, and then change for her so that it logs her files to c:/logs/Sister'saddy@hotmail.com

yes but the prob is when u forget to do it... and since mixing up convos aren't that pleasent, i guess it should be a default option. create different folders for each user that signs in.
anyone supporting the idea?

well it wouldn't be much use to many people, as they only have one address. so i don't agree with you that it should be a defualt settings.

As someone already said on this topic, everything you're asking is already possible and except if you reinstall your Windows every week, forgettingto change the log directory once shouldn't be that much of a problem .

One of the reasons this is not done by default is that around 75% of my users use Windows XP and this operating system lets you configure different user accounts for every member of your family When this is done, the "my documents" directory is different for every user so chatlogs are saved in different directories. Many people like to use several Messenger accounts and they seem happy to see that all their logs are saved in the same place by default.

ok lost battle... my bad.
i just brought that here, cause often i get friends that come to my house and use my pc to check emails and chat a bit on msn.
and my log files got all messed up with chats of them, cause msgplus used the same folder for all of them that signed after me.
