It's slow sometimes, depending on how the file is sent. But there's nothing wrong in sending big files through messenger.

That's wrong. Files are sent through the server when neither you nor your contact can open a port for listening. ie: both you and your conatct are behind a router with firewall or a NAT. In this case, the files are sent through the server and this is the case when the transfer speed is slow.
