Hello,

A day or so after i updated to v3.20 of messenger plus, i've been recieving an error when MSN loads. A screenshot of it is shown below.



I presume it has something to do with the ad hiding. The advert isnt showing up, it's just this error comes up every time i load MSN. Is there any way around this?

yes, there is. by adding this line to your hosts file

Thanx very much. Where would i find the hosts file? (However by adding this entry, would that mean i can't access the main MSN site tho?)

The hosts file is in "C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc"
And adding that entry doesnt mean that you wont be able to access the main site. Only rad.msn.com, which is msns ad-server

start > run

then type in "notepad C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" with out the quote marks

I've always had this issue after installing "Messenger Plus!" (on a clean windows installation).

So I think this is really MsgPlus related

You do know how old this thread is yes? And it's got nothing to do with Plus!, as has already been shown.

If you have a problem similar to this, post in a new thread, with full details.

Take the facts:
1) Fresh installation of Windows (XP, for example).
2) I install MSN Messenger 7 (every build).
3) I install Messenger Plus (every build for MSN Messenger 7).
4) ISSUE
5) I uninstall Messenger Plus --> no more ISSUE
6) Other people have this issue (like this thread confirms).

I guess it's just coincidence...

Do you use some kind of Firewall, Software/Router based?
What ServicePacks do you use, Do you have all updates released by Microsoft?

Do you have other browsers?

What about using A-Patch?
