O.P. Request: "Last time seen online" on floating window icon :P
Greetings people,

I would be very nice to include in the desktop floating icons the data of the last time seen online for each contact.

For example, I put the mouse pointer on a floating contact window, and it says

Name: <Contact's nickname>
Email: <Contact's mail>
Status: <Contact Status>
Notes: <Notes>
Last seen Online: <For example, Oct. 26 2004, 20:30>

So, it would be very useful to see when was the last time that our favourites contacts were online witouth open the MSN Contat List, and without do "Right Click -> Contact More Information". Only putting the cursor on his name in the floating window.

Greetings, :P

P.D.: Sorry my english, but I think that the idea is well explained. :P

This sounds like a useful feature. I would suggest that this only be done for offline contacts though. :P

Such suggestions (to add more lines in the tooltip) has been done before and the answer is no. If you add that then why not add all other kinds of stuff (like everything in the contact information panel, time of the last event, etc...)? There has to be a line drawn somewhere.

Besides, to view what you're asking you only need to right click on the contact and choose "contactinformation"...

;)

But, it's very more easier to just put the mouse pointer in the name and just see the tool tip :'(.

The other method is

Right click on the Name, click Contact Information (previously finding where is that menu entry), see the date and then close the dialog.

It's 5 steps versus just 1. Even doesn't need to do a single click.

And nobody is asking more information that "Last Seen Online". I mean, nothing is very useful except this petition. Why to see the "time of last event"? Or see another information...

Even of all, I must say that for me is a more useful Tooltip the "Last Seen Online" thing that the "Notes" thing. I don't use them.

In fact, the program could be show "Notes:" when there's one for a contact; and "Last Seen Online:" when no.

Greetings,

I dunno where you get those 5 steps though, just right click the floating contact and choose "contact info" = 2 steps

For you it may be usefull, for others some other fields may be usefull. And that's the whole point, to please everybody almost everything should be added. And like I said, a line needs to be drawn. A tooltip should be a tooltip, not a place to put every possible info (to please everyone).

Sorry, but that is a very inlogic thing to implement.

---

Also, when this IS going to be implemented I can imagine that people are going to request the same things for the tooltip in the eventlog. And before you know it we end up with tooltips all over the place with tons of info in it. (<= that's what I mean with "a line needs to be drawn somewhere)

---

Maybe A better idea is that some registrykeys (booleans) are made where you can tick off which info to show besides the standard info for the floating contact tooltip (and maybe also for the eventlog tooltip).

Adding too many thigns in the tooltip could be bothering for some people. However, what I can do is add new special tags that will display these times in the notes.... what do you think? I can also add a registry setting sothat its done autoamtically, or just add it by default, if everybody agree they want this information there.

Hmmm... at first a good idea. But those tags, what are they going to display? I mean format-wise... I can imagine people wanting to change the format. eg: from "3 days, 16 hours, 9 minutes" to "5289 minutes" (bad example, but you know what I mean ;)).

Also the tags will look "ugly" and meaningless when you actual view the contact information page.

And the suggestion of adding even more info (eg: last event) will eventually still be made, I think...

So to anticipate, adding registry keys (for the "advanced" user) to enable/disable infolines like LastSeenOnline, LastNewChat, Notes, HasPlus, LastEvent, LastEventTime, etc. still sounds better :D

dunno... just wild thoughts...

(blah, why do I always sound negative :$)

but not many people are familiar with the registry, and a tag is far easier to use in this case :undecided:

(Well, they can always use Choli's tweaker, but... :P)

i dunno, i like both ideas :P
