Taito today announced that it has signed an agreement with Valve Software to release Half-Life 2 in arcades. It will run on Taito's new arcade hardware, which is called the TypeX. Given the title's strong name recognition, Taito hopes to release the arcade version worldwide, and it is currently slated for a summer 2005 release.

As GameSpot reported from the Amusement Machine show this past September, Taito's TypeX board is based off the architecture of an ATX IBM-compatible PC. Since the hardware is, for all intents and purposes, identical to the PC format and uses the Windows XP Embedded operating system, PC games can be ported to the platform with great ease. TypeX cabinets come standard with AGP Radeon 9200SE (128MB) graphics cards that can be upgraded to X800XT cards, if required.

This is going to be really weird, what type of game is it, cause you'd have to play a first person shooter in an arcade without a gun like in house of the dead, you'll have to use a joystick, IMO this is going to be messed up completely, and the queue(is that how you spell it) for ages, cause you don't die much in these games, its not like a race game at all..

Omg....it's not like everyone will already have it on their PC or Xbox I don't see what's so great about feeding money into an over-sized machine and playing for 5 minutes b4 having to put in more money.

I thought you were going to say something about 'Codename Gordon' which is a 2D Half-Life 2 game you can get from steam....it's really very gay
