The Mestaline patch doesnt work. Tried it. I get a message saying "Cant not open a coversation window" with any of my contacts.
Did you install the mess patch?
If so, you must restore old files by the restore function of mess patch and patch it again without active options that are "Remove AD banner" and "Remove MSN search bar".
Then you can use Mestaline patch to remove the ad bar in conversation window.
Finally you can use Daniel's patch to remove ad bar and search bar in the contact list window.
It is so annoying, I know.

Uh, I fixed it a long time a go with Daniel's patch, don't need Mestaline's non-working patch. Cos it's fixed. Been fixed!

Ryan,
What was said in the NG was "Content". NOT Ads. Content could include Ads, but it could also be the part where it says "So and So is typing" or even how long you've been in contact with them. Until someone from Microsoft actually says "This will be for Ads", no one knows.
Also, knowing that someone in the testing group was removed for creating a crack to fix this, do you want to risk violating the NDA by posting anything about the beta?
Finally, for everyone else. Since the beta was 'leaked' out, you're technically discussing "Illegal Warez" on here. If the OP is a beta tester, then they should have consulted the proper forum for posting the question.. If they're not, then they are discussing an illegally obtained software, which is violating Patchou's TOU.
>>>Edited shortly after the Original Post.....
You may not post illegal things or information about them. This includes, but is not limited to:
* warez, or other illegally distributed software.
* hacking tools.
* pornography or nudity not safe for children.
(Taken from The Terms of Use that you agreed to, when signing up for your account).
How does this pertain to this post you ask? Because the people who created the plugins had to 'hack' the program (reverse engineer, decompile, or other means) in order to get their plugins to work. Also, the version of Messenger is illegally obtained, in that someone who wasn't supposed to give it out to the public did so.
ASG
PS Evil Seph is correct. Just because other people are violating the NDA, doesn't make it right for you (or me, for that matter) to violate it too.

All valid points there. My bad on the point about ads. . About the NDA issue, well that news about the content was already posted on Mess.be. So really all I did, was confirming that it wasn't rumour about the content being down there in the box.

RE: Blank bar in the bottom of message window?
I could go further by posting a quote from the NDA, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do so. I believe most, if not all, NDA's disallow you from spreading information that has surfaced as a result of someone else violating their NDA (correct me if I'm wrong). About Mess.be posting about there being content in the blank bar at the bottom of the conversation window, they could have gotten the information from VorteX who has been removed for infringing the Beta's ToS and NDA or from another tester who is a member of Mess.be, either way it's a violation of NDA on someones part and I don't beleive we should put ourselves at risk by jumping on the bandwagon.
The news about animated display pictures was confirmed by "trusted sources" and look what happened then? Microsoft, themselves, never announced a new feature that allowed animated display pictures, but because it was confirmed by "trusted sources" people believed it and the rumour grew. It practically became "fact" amongst the community and people were angry at why it wasn't included in later MSN Messenger builds and even MSN Messenger 6.x. I've had to deal with the complaints regarding this for a while now and I for one don't want another "animated display picture" epidemic to surface regarding the blank bar at the bottom of the conversation window.
I'm only taking preventitive measures to stop it from happening again. I'm not saying it won't be used for ads or it will be, I'm merely saying don't believe anything anyone *but* a Microsoft representative says. If it turns out to be ads, that's fine. If not, that's fine too and at least we've avoided a "animated display picture" epidemic from occuring again. (I use epidemic because my mind is blank right now and I can't think of a better word ).
Direct note to Ryan: No offence intended or anything, I'm just really careful about recreating a "animated display picture" epidemic. As I'm part of the team of helpers in the Messenger Plus! IRC channel, and it makes our duty a living hell when people come in there to moan about the "promised" feature that wasn't added or wondering how to enable the "hidden" feature that allows for animated display pictures.

Oh yeah, I agree with you there that you're trying to avoid a Animated Diplay type thing again. No one wants that again. That was torture when that rumour was flying around on other boards too. About the NDA, part, welll I'm not sure about that, but I see the point your trying to get across .
