I am having trouble installing this plugin, can anyone provide some breif instructions for a noob...

I extracted all to the Messenger Plus plugin folder and executed install.reg and restarted computer, and no plugin appears in the Messenger Plus plugin menus and the command /xdpon doesnt do jack shit.

any help would be good, looks like a great plugin.

When i extract the plugin into my plugins folder there is already a config file but if i replace it one of my plugins won't work!

I have already registed the extension with the help of the given .reg file.

What else is needed to be done.

Ash_, may I suggest that you rename the config.ini file to avatar.ini to reduce conflicts with other plugins. (This also keeps a logic visible link between the files)

As this is a plugin made in Visual Basic, you also need to register the DLL file:

Go to Start > Run in Windows and type in:
regsvr32 "c:\program files\messenger plus! 3\plugins\avatar.dll"
and press enter

(note: the red path may be different for you, so make sure the path is correct. Also make sure you don't forget the ".)

Will this Plugin work with Msgplus v3.4beta.

As i hav Messenger 7 and msgplus v3.4beta running.

Hmm...it does work with my MSNm 6.2 and MsgPlus! 3.25.106 but I can't open screen like that:



If I click Plus! -> Plugins -> Winamp DP -> Configue, I'll get dialog:

That picture is for WMPlus 3, not Ash's plugin

I'm having problems with this, the first time i entered /xdpon it did not change the picture. then after that that command would not work, it did not recognise the command, even if i entered /xdpoff first.

The text is a little cramped
Maybe have the text in the entire dp and not just the bottom half and a bit smaller text?

Sounds pretty cool... but doesn't seem to want to install...

wow, i didn't expect such a big reply. ill start working on version 2.

CookieRevise: ill rename the config.ini to avatar.ini.

ill also make it able to writethe text to the x, and y co-ordinates of your choice. if anyone wnats to draw some images for the avatar program i would appreciate it.

edit: btw, does anyone know how found out that random number file you have to goto to get to your map.dat file and all your dp's. the only way i can get it know is looking for the current display picture then spliting the string for "\" and i think from memory its the 3rd one from the right.
