Ok, just discovered this.  When you are viewing the contact info of any contact, you can type in an IM but whatever you type wont show up until after you close the contact information window

That's an old known limitation, however, I fixed it in version 3.40 and it will be part of the new beta.

well since this is on the topic of contact information, you cant close conversations with the esc key when you have anyones contact information open. i dont know if its a known thing, but if it isnt i guess it is now...?

Edit: you cant also close it when the preferences panel is open.
