ok, i've just downloaded something without knowing what it was,

my "friend" sent me to a website to download something, and i just followed without thinking twice it turned out to be something called "buddy icon" which just fills my explorer with crap, and offers me emoticons on msn which i don't want, and when i found "Web tools by hotbar" on my programs list, it won't let me remove it, i press remove and all it does is refresh the page. basteds...

does anyone know how to get rid of it, maybe there's a removal tool or something.

Em? have you tryed to use Adaware personal  it could be adware or sumin

i use spybot s&D, maybe i should run a check

i was told that it's good to use it WITH adaware, is it worth filling my computer with both of them?

yeah it found hotbar and i removed that, but it turns out they were unrelated when i reopened msn. i've now found that this infsting illusive program has been promptly closing msn on it's own accord. the url it came from is... ok now it won't let me open "my documents" to look in my log files. after checking with spybot after a re-scan it found 32 entries of mywebsearch (basteds) and i'm just going to close i e to see if this helps.

nope no error message, i updated S&D and fixed a whole load of "mywebsearch" thingies,  so the actual tool bar has gone. as have most of the problems, but unfortunately a few minutes ago, my msn messenger (7, with penguin skin) just exited itself and i had to re sign in, so it's still leaving a few traits behind.

You tried Lavasoft's Adaware? Sometimes it picks up things Spybot misses, and sometimes viseversa. I use both.

off to download it now, i'm sure my pop won't be happy with annother addition to my collection of anti -spyware tests and anti-virus etc
