You just have to add the colour code into a persons custom name.
Press ctrl + k in the custom name textbox for that person .

you mean under "messenger plus extras" » "rename contact" ?

because i've tried that... and when i click ctrl k, nothing pops up

Oh. i forgot to mention you need Messenger 7 Beta and Msgplus 3.40 Beta.
