O.P. This problem really has been driving me mad for many, many, many months.
Hi there,
I signed up to these forums on the off-chance that somebody could help me with an extremely irritating problem I've been having with msn messenger.
About 4 out of 5 times, I cannot sign into msn messenger. The 'msn men' spin for about 40 seconds, and then just go back to the original 'click here to sign in' screen. No error message. Nothing. I try again and again, experiencing the same problem time after time. Sometimes I keep trying, and I eventually get signed in. Quite often, I just give up.
If I sign in with another account I'm signed in instantly, leading me to believe it's a problem with my account rather than my computer/installation. Just to make sure I downloaded and installed Msn 7 Beta. Same problem! Googling receives no useful results. Everybody seems to get some kind of error message up, whereas I have none.
As a last resort, I'll consider signing up for another hotmail account. I'm really not keen on doing this, so this really will be my last option. This is the weirdest and most erratic problem I've ever had. I figured if nobody here can explain it then there's probably not a solution!
Many thanks in advance, and fingers crossed...
Simon

Try using this program to switch your msn server (note the program is old and might not work on your computer. It is also incompatable with Messenger 7)
MSN server
If that doesnt work try registering the following DLL's:

Thank you very much for your quick reply.
I tried both those things and I'm still experiencing the same problem. I swtiched to about 5 different servers and registered all the DLL's but no luck.
Thanks again for your help. Any more suggestions!?

The only time that I can't sign in and there is no error message is when I forget to connect to the internet. The men spin for a few secs then it goes back to the sign in screen. Although it seems that you are connected to the internet because you can sign in with your other account. I dunno if what I just said might help...

Check your IE Security settings:
Open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then Internet Options, then Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section, and verify that "Check for server certificate revocation" is unchecked. Also verify that 'Use SSL 2.0' and Use SSL 3.0' is checked, then click OK.
And do you have any programs like a firewall that could be blocking messengers connection?

Afraid not, none at all. Singing into another account works, so could this still be something blocking it?
Thanks for your help so far.

Well, try contacting Microsoft about the problem with your account...

EDIT: If this is not the correct product, you can change it by click the choose a different service link...

But I dont think his problem is due to servers down. Most of us can sign in, while he cant...
