is it just me, or does MSN only seem to be doing cosmetic changes and copying patchou?

I admit, some features are akin to those in Plus. However, you've got to remember MSN is competing with AIM and Y!M, and I know for a fact Y!M has personalised statuses. So it's more a case of keeping up with the competition than copying Patchou.

mybe they should just save them selves the trouble and include the msgplus! installation package in the MSN messenger install program

and i don't see any competition between AIM/Y!, there just imitations, does anyone even use ICQ anymore

One of the first things about business is that you must never fall behind with features and great new exiting twists to your software, so you can have a big enough advantage over other rivals.

For legal reasons they wouldn't without buying Plus! which wouldn't be so good...This would only be done as a last resource if something was threatening it, we'd also see a lot of crazy strategies to make it more popular.
