O.P. Custom Emotion Sounds & Word Filters
I can't hear any Custom Emotion Sounds that people send me if i have "says:" filtered.
When i send or receive a Custom Emotion Sound the text looks messed up, like i don't have Plus! installed.

Normally i filter says: with a <space> so that i don't see it in the chat window.

Does this mean this filter can't be used anymore, or is there a way around it making both work still?

Thanks for any help.

P.S i know i can make says: white etc.

try disabling your firewall for a second to see if that helps

I doubt that will help to be honest. It's something to do with how Plus recognises the custom sounds, and how the word filter messes with it.

All I can say is wait until Patchou can look at it.

Thanks for trying to help, but the problem was to do with "says:" being filtered, not with my firewall settings.
This is the reason i started the thread in the first place.

Yes it looks like Patchou would have to make it work, unless of course someone has a work around for it.

It this never works again it's fine with me, It's not the end of the world or anything.

When you send a sound or you received a sound, Messenger Plus! searches for the line containing the screenname of you or your contact and the "says:" word. When it is found, that line* is replaced with the special action line** so you can perform the appropiate actions.

However, this is only local, your contact (who has also the latest Plus! of course) will still see the special action line, so he can still download/play/add the sound.

*
blahblah my screenname blahblah says:
[Messenger Plus! Sound] - Data{6041E2DDC9A2} - apu - no english

**
blahblah my screenname blahblah is sending a sound.
Action: Play "apu - no english"

All this is indeed an annoyance when you replaced the "says:" word with filters because Messenger Plus! actually searches for the word that is in the language resource of MSN Messenger.

If you realy want the "says:" gone you better reshack the msgslang.dll file, String Table 127, String 2030.
"%1 says:" => "%1 " (note the space!! this is needed if you want Plus! to be able to reconize/change the lines with sounds)
.-= A 'frrrrrrrituurrr' for Wacky =-.

Yeah i noticed my contacts could still hear the sounds when i couldn't, this is what made me check my filters.

I disabled my filters an tested an it worked, i removed says: first an it worked.

Thanks CookieRevised about the says: removing, i'll just keep the says: white.
