Can anyone list some benefits of a php board instead of a asp one?

We're trying to set one up at college but the admin says we need a list so any ideas would be great thanks

Php is a simpler language

apart from being easier (like stiggy said), it can run on various platforms like windows, linux, unix etc. whereas asp is only windows (i think)

PHP is much more compatible with many SQL databases, so if your school wants to have a database of some sort on their website they should go with PHP.

We do actually have a asp forum at the mo but i (and some others) want it PHP, the admin just said we need reasons though grrr but thanks for the advice
