O.P. Trouble Connecting
Hi All, I can't connect to the MSN Messenger service since yesterday. It says there is a problem with my connection.

I went to Tools/Opction/Connection/Advance Settings/ and "Test TCP Connection":

"Resolving the server name...
Connecting to the server...
Connected, verifying ability to send data now...
Success, you can connect to the Messenger Service."

The same for the SOCKS version 5, when using "Your Freedom".

But in the Connection, "Test Connection" give me an error:

"Please wait while the troubleshooter checks your system for connectivity ...
The troubleshooter has determined that you may not have Internet connectivity. Please make sure that your Internet connection is working by using the Windows network troubleshooter."

All internet is working good, I just can't connect to the Messenger service and to Ares Galaxy Network. I've try my local support and they just suggest to release and renew my IP, that didn't work.

Thank you for your help.

Thank you both for your help. There is no firewall (Only XP PRO SP2, one, MSN Messenger is not restricted) and the error code is 80072efd.

Everything was good two days ago. The problem persists in both computers in the network.

Yes sounds as thought something is wrong with your internet connection, mind you windows firewall does stop alot of things so check that too.

RE: Trouble Connecting
maybe will this help:

First, check the .NET service status as this error may be caused by problems at the MSN servers.

If there are no reported problems on the MSN servers, see if your proxy settings are correct: click "Tools" and then "options" at your MSN Messenger main window. In the options screen click "Connection" in the list to the left. Next, click the "Advanced Settings..." button. If you do not use a proxy server, these textboxes should be empty.
If you are on a network the network administrator can probably tell you if you should have proxy settings in Messenger.

Make sure if Internet Explorer supports 128 bits encryption. Open Internet Explorer and click Help, then About Internet Explorer. If the Cipher Strength is less then 128 bits download and install the Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack. MSN Messenger needs encryption to authenticate (check your username / password)

In Internet Explorer: click Tools, then Internet Options, click Lan Settings in the connection Tab, click the "automatically detect settings" button, then click ok twice to confirm. This will let Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger find out the best way to connect to the Internet via the current network.
