Ok i'm going to try and explain this as simply as possible.

I was using msn 6.2 with the penguin skin installed. I was also using Messenger Plus version 3.25.0.106 with various plugins.  All of these were working fine together.

I decided to switch to msn 7. So i removed the Messenger Plus plugins, then Messenger Plus, then the penguin skin and then finally msn 6.2. (Through the add/remove programs bit of the control panel). I then proceeded to download msn 7. (I didn't install any version of Messenger Plus with it.)

After a few days i decided that i did not like msn 7 and wished to switch back to 6.2. So i removed msn 7 but then found that it was no longer available for download from the microsoft web site. 

So to get around this i used system restore to restore my computer to the point before i started removing programs. This worked fine except for Messenger Plus and the plugins. When ever i start my computer i get this error message.

Do you have any advice so i could get Messenger Plus working again without removing it and losing all my settings?

works for me

what happens with a reinstall of plus?
if you want i can uplaod the 6.2 ?

I strongly recommend you get MSN Messenger 7, as it fixes important security problems. Also when you use 6.2 you will just get pestered to update whenever you use it.

Uninstall MSN Messenger and Messenger Plus > Reboot your computer > Download and install them both again. If you really want MSN Messenger 6.2, but I really suggest you don't you can get it from here.
When you first uninstall Plus, I recomend you keep all your settings.

Also make sure you get the latest version of Messenger Plus (3.52.130)

You can remove it and keep your settings. If you go to Control Panel > Add/remove > Messenger Plus 3! then keep my settings

If you just reinstall Messenger plus! without uninstalling, it will repair it without removing any settings.

That may be so, but you can uninstall and keep settings. Just uninstalling and rebooting your computer makes sure that it is a cleaner install.

Thanks for all your help so far. However, when i click "change/remove" on Messenger Plus i get the same error message mentioned in my first post.

So i guess my question is has any one called got a list of the registry keys Messenger Plus creates so i can manually remove? Unless anyone has any other help that will slove the problem?

Try just installing the new plus over the old plus if you are having problems installing.
